In a recent fund raising event held at Radio City Music Hall in New York,Kerry had several guests.Whoopi Goldberg was one and said some rather questionable things about Bush. She used sexual language in her description of Bush and said "why did you invite me if you didn't want me to be mean?" Kerry was supposedly upset about Whoopy's comments but said nothing during or after the benefit. He did supposedly say that he was upset to a staff member when he was leaving the stage.
I don't understand how Kerry can say he has family values when he allows this kind of thing to go on in front of hundreds of people.I do know that Cheney said a word that I find very offensive,I don't agree with him saying what he did and I don't condone it in any way. However,it was in a more private setting and was not in an area where the general public would be.
Kerry on the other hand had this happen in a very public area. Also,it was more than just one bad word coming out,it was a bit by Goldberg described as raunchy by the evening news report.I don't see this as being 'wholesome family values'.

I don't know exactly what she said but she made jokes about Cheney's first name and GWB's last name. Supposedly Kerry and his wife couldn't stop laughing.

Do any democrats have any class at all?

One word as opposed to several minutes of hate filled speech!

Fix that-one word to a man that really, really deserves it (even though I don't agree with it's use on the occasion that he did use it) The minutes of hate filled speech were much more than a comment in the heat of the moment.

That one senator (who I think is Patrick Lahey sp? but I may be wrong) was supposedly hounding Cheney about some issue for some time. Cheney had a weak moment, which we all do, and blurted out his comment.
To me, that makes him a little more human, and acceptable. Im sure a lot of "less restrained" people would have resorted to pushing and fighting. Remember the two camera men pushing each other in the White House press room recently!
But for Kerry to sit and allow filth to be said at "his party", and not stop it, makes him a little less acceptable.

too much class for that kind of thing

Speaking of celebrity endorsements: Dennis Miller, a big backer of Bush, was in Green Bay, Wis., yesterday to warm up the crowd before the prez spoke. Miller made a glancing reference to Whoopi but promised, "In deference to George W. Bush, I will try not to fall to depths that some would in this case."

Then he went on to imply a homosexual attraction between Kerry and Edwards.

"Those two cannot keep their hands off each other, can they?" Miller said. "I think I have a new idea for a new campaign slogan -- use the bumper sticker 'Hey, Get A Room.' "

The Post's Dana Milbank also reports that Miller riffed on other noted Dems. "Asking Bill Clinton to write an honest book is like asking Britney Spears to sing a capella," he said.

And he called strategist James Carville "a muppet who accidentally was washed on hot" and a "Satanic Chihuahua under a strobe light" who has "more nervous ticks than a Belfast parking valet."

All in good fun, of course. Bush thanked Miller "for joining us" but made no mention of his warm-up act.

just keeping up with all the "classy" speech; profane or not.

i guess pointing out the hypocrisy of this situation makes me a major league ******* !

I'm not a Cheney fan. But finally a man that told someone directly precisely what he thought of him-face to face. Very refreshing, very honest, very politically in-correct, I liked it

I know its highly unheard of for a politician to act in a manner that the common citizen can relate to. I think it boosted Cheney's popularity.
