Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born June 17, 1987) is an American rapper and songwriter. Regarded as one of the most influential hip hop artists of his generation, and one of the greatest rappers of all time, he is known for his technical artistry and complex songwriting. He was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Music, becoming the first musician outside of the classical and jazz genres to be honored.

I fully expect as after the previous two Super Bowls-a thread basically saying "What were they thinking" picking this artist"?

You may not like his genre of music-but they guy no doubt has some talent.

Make no mistake-the NFL is a well oil machine-and they know exactly what they are doing.
 
I disagree the NFL is a well oiled machine knowing exactly what they are doing. If the NFL is trying to grow the viewer base, they already captured white and black males. The growth opportunity is Latinos and women.

More than 1/3 of the entire US population supposedly watches the SB. I do agree that Latinos (and women) are a huge opportunity for them. By comparison, 1.5 billion people watched the last FIFA World Cup match. That's not a typo for anyone wondering - yes, BILLION - not million.
 
Sounds pretty on brand of what they've been doing for awhile. I'm sure there will be a dozen guest appearances along with him.

Over 20 billion in revenue. Yea- you can disagree- but I wished I had worked for an organization like that. They are swimming in cash.
 
This is a combination of what they believe their audience wants, and who they can get.

This is the same organization that had 4 appearances from Up With People.
