Local Big Lots has Kendall GT-1 conventional oil priced at 2.50 a quart. Is this a very good to excellent oil? Can I mix it 50-50 with A decent Synthetic oil ?
Im looking for a good to excellent all around oil. Nothing spectacular (as in mobil one or the "botique "oils).

"I" have never been a fan of mixing different brands and types of oils together. I'm not saying it will be detrimental to your engine but "I" would not do it. If you want to run regular oil then run it. If you want to run a synthetic, then run synthetic. Just my opinion but whatever you do, good luck with it.

Kendall is good stuff.

Within the last 2-3yrs, I've seen it as high as $2.79/qt at AA and AZ. I used to be able to get it by the case on sale and after rebate for $0.79-0.99/qt at a local home center, but I'm afraid those days are long gone. Best price they have it for now on sale is ~$1.49. I know it's not the exact same oil, but look at Walmart's pricing for Motorcraft oil. It's always over $2/qt. I know you can find it, but it's tough to get any oil for even close to a buck a quart now.

JTK,

Are you near a Checker, Schuck's, Kragen, Murray's or Pep-Boys? If so they often have name brand oils on sale (after rebate) for .49/qt - .99/qt. - you just have to watch for it and then stock up.

Out of that list, only Pep-Boys is in the Western NY area and only 2 of them at that. We have tons of AZs and AAs. If you want old dusty oil bottles; Napa, Carquest or one of the few Mom and Pop places.

I have seen two Toyota dealers using GT-1 Syn Blend for their OC's; one in NC and the other in CT. I haven't used it because of my stash but I wouldn't have any problems using it for a 4-5k OCI; it's a Conoco product in which each of the blends had different mixes, and all are acceptable products. I think $2.50/qt is on the high side for the GT Syn Blend since you can get it by the case from a distributor for $2.00/qt. I guess it was a typo, but multi-grade Kendall dino only comes in 10w-40 or 20w-50, this must be a syn or a blend.

Most-all passenger vehicles require or recommend 5W-20/30. Where can I find Rotella or Delvac dinos in those weights?

The kendall is made by conoco phillips.

Its going to be very similar to their Hydroclear product, and very similar to the motorcraft motor oils.

Great product, but 2.50 per quart seems to be the regular shelf price at any auto parts store.

You can get the motorcraft around 2.25 per quart at walmart, and my local VALU home center runs the kendall on sale for a little over a dollar per quart a few times a year.
