What are the opinions on Kendall GT-1 Semi-Synthetic (5w30) and Full Synthetic (5W-40) oils? Any recommendations on how long these oils will last between oil changes. In a Kendall brochure, they recommend 6000 miles between changes.

I would say if you can get your hands on some Kendall, BUY IT! The 6000 mile changes are for IDEAL circumstances. In the real world, this never happens.
Another Conoco-Philips oil similar to TropArtic, Motorcraft, etc. Seem to be quite popular on BITOG...good "bang-for-the-buck".
I'll agree that Kendall is a good choice.
Both myself and GM's (conservative) oil life monitor in my old Chevy will disagree about 6000 mile changes.
Anyone with a mechanically sound car and more than a 20 minute drive to work on paved highways can run 6000 miles.
So this kendal is good stuff? i have never heard fo it, i use Mobil 1 extended performance most of the time. I will have to give this stuff a shot maybe, i work at anautozone and we have boxes of it in the back for $.01, cause no one ever boight it. i might pick up acouple boxes for under a dollar
I ran Kendall GT-1 10w30 semi-syn in my car for nearly 3500mi/three months. I just changed it out and it still looked fairly goldish-brown (when warm). I regret changing it now, but I put it in in the middle of January, so I was a little more anal regarding getting out those cold-idle contaminants...

Never heard of it??? Kendall was one of the first companies to popularize multi-weight oils (1953)... They've been around quite a while and were always popular in the Northeastern US, and were Pennsylvania based at one time. I think someone said that Pitt-Penn is now running largely Kendall-inspired/last Kendall-owned SJ formulations (before they became Pitt-Penn). I was actually thinking of starting a thread on this asking whether the newer Kendell formulations were merely the same as Conoco-Phillips Motorcraft semi-synthetic formulations... I dunno.
But there was a time I believe that Kendall was one of the bigger motor oil names... But since most of the major PA brands like "Quaker" State and Penn(sylvania)zoil have abandoned PA as their HQ, so has the reputation of the old school oils... SUNOCO bought Kendall in the 90's I think, and has apparently opted to sell the name to Conoco-Philips...

LOL...I was sitting here thinking that same thing. Imagine how they'd react back then if someone had said you can go 25,000 miles. Granted back then you couldn't, but, I'm just saying...
