Hello, I have purchased a new Scag V Ride XL mower, what is the oil you all recommend it calls for 15 50 weight

Should go with the high zinc oil as pictured

Napa has Napa brand 15W50 on sale for $4.49 a quart if you prefer quart bottles. Check online first as some Franchise Napa locations don't honer company owned store sale prices.

20w-50 for lower hour (more frequent changes) would work too but the 15w-50 recommendation is what you want in commercial duty if following the oil drain interval in the manual.

Commercial use? You don't say.
There are many homeowners who have commercial mowers because they cut 10 acres of grass (like me). I run M1 Euro 0-40 in my 28HP ZTR engine and an FL400S filter. I mow grass in the spring and fall as well though. Wouldn't hesitate at all to run M1 15-50 in it though, that is what is in the hydro drives.

Yeah, pretty detailed. Homeowners don't rack up the hours on a commercial mower because they mow so fast. My Ferris is a 2014 model, 61" deck, I cut 11 acres with it and it has 250 hours on it.

For cheap oil you could do like some other folks do and just drain the oil out of that old car thats been sitting a few years, and use that.

Manufacturer definitely allows 50 grade

The 15w-50 is likely for the hydros.

The Kaw FX engines don't need anything special. Any decent 10w-40 is a pretty good choice for about any application in an FX.

I've never had a problem with oil consumption in my Kaw power units. I have an FX 35hp (10w-40) and an older FH 25hp (10w-30). They have been ultra reliable and soldier on just fine.

I wonder how the HPL no VI 10w40 would work? Will not shear down in a hot engine. I'm using amsoil AME 15w40 currently.

It would probably work almost as well as no VI Delo 400 SAE 40.
20w50 motorcycle oil is another option.
