Kaspersky software to be banned in the United States

- If US can block AV update IPs country-wide then that tells me the U.S. is getting closer to progressive socialism.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration hasn't responded to Microsoft's repeated infosec failings which lawmakers have warned pose "a serious national security threat."

These shortcomings were the topic of a congressional hearing last week, and a Homeland Security investigation that found Microsoft's "avoidable errors" allowed Beijing's cyber spies to steal tens of thousands of sensitive emails from the Microsoft-hosted Exchange Online inboxes of high-ranking US government officials.
A little dramatic? It's been a week since the congressional hearing and it's up to the Biden administration and Congress to act.

Do you use a home phone or what cell provider do you have? I rarely get telemarketers for whatever reason and when I do the iPhone shows potential spam so nope and block
I get spam alerts too but some are not always flagged. When you are expecting a phone call and not sure exactly what number it will come from, then answering a spam call will only lead to more calls.

I surmise that some entrepreneurial programmer has created a number reseller network or system that flags that a certain number is live and being answered. This might signal others to call or enter your number into a que.

I base this off the fact that I'll get 1 or 2 phone calls more that day and multiple during the week when I answer until it slows down again. The spammers use fly by night companies that break FCC rules to allow them to connect to our network somehow.

Despite the FCCs new protocols to prevent spoofing and increase verification for small telco companies, these calls still make it through. There has been progress and the calls have slowed down a lot, to the point where I don't get any for a week or 2 but it's not a solved problem yet.

My experience hardening Red Hat, and reading about Windows hardening, is when Red Hat is hardened it is real and things may break. MS it’s a suggestion and it’s up to the application developer whether or not they read the parameter and implement it.

Red Hat used to be much more pedantic about it. Lately they allow me to conditionally weaken security in order to play nicely with MS, however a setting is never a suggestion.
