K&N VF2077 Cabin Air Filter

Howdy Folks, I got to looking for a replacement cabin air filter for the 2008 Volvo XC90 & saw they were $24 for a Premium Guard at Oreilly's Auto. While online browsing I noticed K&N offers these cabin filter. Sweet! Apparently they've been for about a decade now. Better late than never? I thought since I've seen my cabin filter get crumpled up & smashed crooked trying to get them back into their location on my vehicles why not get the K&N wire backing that should eliminate deformation & it does. It didn't deform at all while installing it & the wire backing keeps it all uniform. $35.99+Tax & free shipping from Summit Racing. Being washable I'd see a payback after only two years (two cleanings). I will need to buy their "Refresher Kit" spray bottles though when it comes time to clean it. This part number fits several different Volvo's.

No more deformation!

I have the VF2007 and I vacuum and rinse out pretty often. Sometimes I do a spray of febreeze on it just for something different. It's lasted me since 2016 from my Honda Civic to my Accord. Over 700,000 miles.

700,000 miles in like 8 years, so 87,500 miles a year, 239 miles a day. Give us a shout when you hit 1 Million Miles!

Wow, that is good to hear about your success with this style filter. If I get 100k out of it I'd be happy. They mention that the refresher spray they use helps with electrostatic to help collect debris so I may not use anything else like febreeze. Some mention they use a plant based biodegradable source.

I've been using a K&N VF2052 for 5+ years now. I like it just fine, and the refresher spray has a clean new car type smell after using it. I don't think charcoal does anything better than any other standard non-HEPA type of filter. The K&N gets dirty black in a year between cleans so I know it's doing a lot. Cabin stays clean and dust free.

I would NOT febreeze my filter. The refresher spray is for re-ionizing the media to make dust stick to it much like the K&N home HVAC filter.

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead. But did you use this product on your K&N filter and notice any appreciable differences?

Not a problem. I ended up blowing it off with my air compressor carefully and just reinstalled it. I would imagine It should help with collecting debris. Other than that I have no experience with the product. I was trying to find something similar that was cheaper than K&N branded spray.
