K&N "select" series - manufacturer?

Not sure if these are new from K&N. Anybody know the maker? Made in USA. 99% 30µm. Was $5 on AMZ recently (now 10 bucks). Perhaps replacing the "Performance Silver" series (COO Vietnam/CN).

I think Champion Labs. I stopped using them after they stopped being made by Hiflo Filtro in Thailand. I had one made in the USA that became brittle and cracked in a BMW N52 in 5k OCI, and that was the end of that.

I once got one K&N after installing an oil cooler from N55, and there was some sound (it was the return line from the cooler touching the chassis). I was like, let me try another filter. Anyway, I put it on the cage, and it was falling off.
The biggest junk filter I have ever seen.

The Thai (and Vietnam?) K&N Silver looked to be well constructed. Scored a bunch for a $3 each on Rock Auto closeout recently.
