K&N "Pro Series" emphasis on 'flow' rather than...

K&N "Pro Series" emphasis on 'flow' rather than the absolute best in filtration. Seems like the filter for me if I didn't already have 1 Toyota OEM filter, and 5 Purolator classic (white) filter and 3 Mobil 1 filter (included as part of oil sale)

It's next on my list then! The price at RockAuto is only 4 bucks for my car.

ummm...advertising fluff.

Positive displacement pump shifts the same oil per revolution, and a poofteenth in additional restriction won't make much difference

Sounds good on pen and paper yet it leaves something to be desired from a stand point that even if it flowed better where is the benefit over by passing filtering all together? I'd be more apt to buy if filtration was their prime goal over anything else. K&N air filters are notorious for "free flowing" more air than anyone else but the gains are sometimes minimal yet are on the high side of allowing everything but the kitchen sink to pass through for their gains. I personally used them but after trying to sell them to diesel truck owners got the feedback they got their turbos filthy with dirt and were happier with paper. Right now I use the Injen filter which is made with nano filtering to keep air cleaner thus my oil stays cleaning longer. I also use the drycharger too for extra filtration. K&N would be better off to just make a really over the top oil filter with filtering as its prime goal with über strong psi handling and could hold 1/4-1/2 qt more oil. That would sell me in a heartbeat! So many good oil filters that somebody is going to have to make some outrageous claim to get people committed to their product over everyone else. I guess I could try one and throw the filtermag on it and see what happens...maybe even do a used oil analysis with it and Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 & LM Mos2!!

If you call gaining 0.05 HP at red line "improved engine performance" then I guess it's true.

Notice they don't exactly say what "outstanding filtration and engine protection" really means. What's the beta ratio? Anyone who doesn't list the efficiency is embarrassed to say, and instead uses weasel advertising phrases to make it look awesome when it's average or below.

I've never understood the new Pro-series of filters. K&N is notorious for dubious marketing claims and this new lineup seems to be business-as-usual.
