K&N will give a very decent flow rate.
If you change your oil very often, filtration probably won't be a major deal.
I'd go with better filtration. Look at AMSOIL EaO filters.

That seems to be the consensus,
running through the search function and came across this:
the best filtering - Amsoil
almost best filtering - Mobil-1
good filtering and the best flow ...... K & N (plus if you are not good with tools, these have a big nut for idiots)
want the best filter for the money......PUROLATOR BABY,

For a car that is driven hard quite often, I'd choose flow over filtration any day.
Anything worth filtering cannnot be captured by todays filters, Go with the flow!

Micron filtering - associated with Mobil 1 and Amsoil Eao, seems to help the long (double-digit) OCI folks most -- or those that change filters every-other-OCI.
less then 10 microns! Most filters capture above that and what is really unknown is what damage "if any" less then 10 micron particles can actually cause and how much if any they actually reduce the life of an engine.

I would stick with the motorcraft.
Both filtering and flow are very important wile poor filtering can damage a motor so will poor flow. I go with a good name that you can trust one that has been around for a wile and who has been makeing oil filters. but I'm not here to endorse any particular brand cause everyone has there own personal preference on what is good and what's not. But I know through experience that the purolators have always been reliable for me and my 5.0 stang never had any problems with low oil pressure or and thing along the lines of a oil filter or oil system error

How does a filter make your oil pump ..pump more? I keep seeing this time and time again. How does a filter magically give your oil pump more volume output? A filter, in all but the most marginal of circumstances, can only make oil pumping (in terms of factional/micro hp) easier.
