Let me start by saying that i am not a big fan of K&N filters.

I needed to replace the air filter on my Honda 3 Wheeler and they are no longer available. I bought a K&N and it came dry and was wondering if there was a oil that I Could use instead of going out and buying a recharge kit.

I wondered the same thing when i had my K&N. their oil seems like almost a thin bar and chain oil. I would get the recharge kit if It was me and I had to run a k&n. Have you checked ebay for the paper filter or a cross reference for the paper one in a more modern machine that is still made? You have to be carefull what oil you use cause some could attack the filter media and make it even worse than before.

The oil is what makes them work(or kinda work). I don't know of an acceptable substitute for it. You don't need the whole kit you can buy the oil by it's self. Uni doesn't make a filter for the bike?

for your 3 wheeler, UNI foam filters are also avalable, which I would consider an OEM replacement since all Honda ATVs use foam filters and especially 3 wheelers. Foam filter oil can be bought from your local ATV dealer, K&N oil should also be available at your ATV dealer. either way you will need to go to a dealer unless you order online.

The filter should have come pre-oiled. I had one of the original K+N filters and remember that they said you can coat the gauze with transmission fluid or engine oil. If you have a MAF sensor, I would be careful over oiling it. If you don't than let that filter drip oil.

I would also try foam air filter oil if you have some laying around from your old filter.
