On this weekends Horsepower TV they toured the plant where they make RP Oil filter and showed every step and even how they are tested. Very cool segment for a top notch filter.

They didnt say specifically. They were talking to all the head RP people. It was a neat package about how they make the filters.

But RP doesn't make the filters

LOL

Champion Labs does. Just like the make the K&N and Mobil 1 filters.

My wife is now very persistant and insistant on my using RP oil filters. Especially on her car.

Why??

They're purple. The ADBV is purple as well.

the color purple.. the sole reason for switching over.
Good thing she didn't see the RP bottles!

Imagine my disappointment when I found out there was no Sears Kenmore factory either. Shucks.

Missed it ... sounds interesting. So what kind of testing did they do on the filters?

They showed a vibration test where they shook the filter up to 6G's to make sure it wouldn't come apart. Also, the purple is not paint, it is in fact powder coating.

I really like that episode, interesting to see how they were made. I like how people instantly judge it and say stupid things. They also show how they make air filters and those seemed to be liked on here but everyone just assumes oil filters only.

Champion makes them. They mentioned Albion, Ill in the video. That's where Champion is located. Now we know why RP, K&N, and TRD all look the same

So I get the feeling from reading this thread, that the RP filter is somehow inferior, and RP itself is somehow deceiving the public because they don't actually produce the filter??? Does M1 produce their own filter? No. Same with K&N.

Oh wait, it's a RP thread, so of course all of the bashers come out to play, my bad.

You just missed the boat......... COMPLETELY bud, sorry.

The RP filter is made by Champion Labs
The M1 filter is made by Champion Labs
The K&N filter is made by Champion Labs

They are all GREAT filters. Nobody (afaik) is KNOCKING the RP filter, just clarifying that, like some of the other really good filters, is made by Champion labs.

Where did you get the idea I was bashing the RP filter? Just said it's a K&N/TRD clone...good filters for sure.
