I realized my mistake at home but went for diff change anyway's. Vehicle is jeep crd figure it pounds rear axle 300lbs torque. Should I consider maybe just dumping a quart of 85w and put 75w90 quart in. Kind of mix thickness or bad idea?

I don't think it is a big deal, you should be fine.

Yes they do...or at least they did. I am looking at a bottle of RP 85w140 sitting on my shop bench. I would run it until it is due to be changed.

Will gas mileage tank now? I would be willing to swap out a quart and put another quart back in. 75w90 mixed with 85w140? Both royal purple, I had a dikkens of time pumping that fluid back in its thick stuff. Would this give me 80w115?

I have run 75w140, 80w140, and 85w140 in our Navigator with no observable changes in fuel economy. I doubt you will notice any difference unless you are driving a lot of short trips in cold weather. Why not run the 85w140 for 4-5 tanks of fuel and see how it does?

Gas mileage won't be affect with the CRD. Diesel mileage.....

Most 'ends need all the help they can get. The 85w140 will do fine. And, after 30k miles, change it to a 75w140.

RP also will shear some.

How cold is a Utah winter?
