Can someone recommend me a good, no too $$$ jump starter? There are so many brands / choices IDK which ones are "good". I'll probably need something with ~ 750 CCA, I think. (see sig for our cars).

AAP Batteries - Are those batteries any good? I have had great luck with Auto ZOne Duralast batteries (the one in my Tbird is 8+ yrs old and still running strong), and I was wondering what the consensus is on AAP Autocraft batteries...

Also, which shops carry Exxide Batteries? (Is Walmart brand made by Exxide?)

I am looking for a Group Size 94R battery.

I'll comment on the battery packs..don't buy one!

they work for the first year or two then really start going down hill,we've had a few variety of brand names and all the same..

get your self a good pair of jumper cables

AAP batteries are great, made by johnson controls, and you can buy them online with coupon codes at significant savings!

I don't know of any jumper pack that does 750 CCA. Remember CCA is calculated at 30 seconds of cranking; a booster that lasts five seconds should get you going. Their smaller batteries might not last all 30 sec. Someone on here claims most all jumpers have the same low capacity battery.

Why do you WANT an exide battery? They leak around the posts due to shoddy construction and die mysterious early deaths all the time. Walmart has a mix of exide and JC and I go for the JC.

Thanks for the tips on the AAP batteries.

I didn't WANT Exide - was just curious as they have a pretty long (8 yr) warranty compared to some others.

I have found several Jump starters with more than 1000 CCA even (at least they claim so), but almost all those are made by Clore, which doesn't put reverse polarity alerts or overcharge sensors on them. The other brands with less power do have those 2 features.

Jumper cables are good, but a jump starter can do the job when there's no one to jump start you and/or if you have parked in a weird spot where another vehicle can't get near you.

The Jumper pack batteries can last a long time, if they are recharged promptly after use, or monthly if not used.

They use a sealed AGM battery.

While jumper packs are convenient, one could in theory buy a larger 18 or 22 A/h battery for much cheaper, and use jumper cables to that battery for jump starting purposes.
