2019 Ram Starter Motor

Went to fire it up this morning and click, just a single click. Battery is less than a year old, so I figured it couldn’t be that, plus all lights came on. Grabbed a hammer and whacked the starter a couple times and it fired right up.

Little disappointed that it did this at only 109k miles.

So which starter to buy. I don’t really care where it comes from, looking for a good piece, and will pay for it but not waste fully. I’m not seeing the Mopar as an option based on cost, $300-350, unless there’s a really good reason for it.

I’m aiming to do this Saturday. Hopefully it’ll last til then and I’m keeping a hammer in the truck for the time being. It’ll definitely only get drive to work duty. Replacement looks really easy based on AllData, .9 warranty hrs.

I’m seeing these options: (after core return costs listed)
Advance
Carquest reman - $134
Carquest new - $200
Bosch reman - $234 (need to ship)

Auto Zone
Duralast reman - $142
Duralast gold new - $219
Total pro - $114

Rock Auto
See pic (core charges may be more important here)

Those died off with the carburetor and alternator repair shops. If you do find one, it is usually some chain smoking old guy that is halfway into his daily 12pack of PBR working out of his now home garage using up his spares that do not support anything made past 1985 and is only open on Thursdays between 2-4pm.

Sad but true. Nearly the same applies to "automotive machine shops."
