No idea how it will go, but I will report back in the afternoon. I am looking as professional as I can, and clean-shaven. I do not own button-up shirt, nor ties, nor slacks at this time.

Wish me the best, and I will report back later so everyone can get out their needed comments.

* And yes, my SSI/SSDI thing is still going on.. but I need the money, so if I keep it below what they SGI, or Substantial Gainful Employment, then, .. I need the money! Truck needs manifold, etc etc.

Art Vandelay, everyone, all my supporters, will let you know how it goes later! Not until 12PM, it is.

The truck, posted about at length, will be my transportation means.

^^ This is not a bad idea...

If it is clean and doesn't smell bad, i will go there before interview!

Maybe even now!! ...

Even for the lowest skilled job, the person the best dressed will usually get the position! At least no jeans and a button up shirt. I've seen people not even tuck their shirts in for an interview! That screams "I don't want the job"

What type of job is it if you don't mind me asking? Then we can give better tips that way. Good luck!

Remember you need to convince them that your the best one to help their company. Why is that so. You need to convey that. Ask questions so you seem interested in their company.

I buy all my clothes at Thrift Shops and Yard Sales. I'm wearing a nice shirt right now I bought for a quarter at a Church Yard Sale. The boots I'm wearing cost seven dollars at Good Will, (I draw the line at underwear however - I can't get past wearing undies someone else has worn).

Best of luck on your job interview today - hope all goes well.

Thank you!

And I must tear myself away from computer now. Will post back when I know something!

Thank you all!!!

Stop posting on BITOG and instead take the time to research the company so that you can strike up a conversation about something recent that's relevant to the company. This will help you come across as well prepared and interested in the company.

Good luck.
Don't talk about you much talk about the company and how you can be a valuable asset and how you can benefit the company. Other than that eye contact and a good handshake are important.

And ASK about the company, the job, the people you work for, customers, etc.

Show an interest. Do some homework, but also have some good questions to ask in addition to what you find out from some on-line research.

If it's a mom and pop, research some questions to ask to demonstrate that you are genuinely interested in them.

I put on some weight in the past year (but taking it back off!). I generally buy all of my clothes at good will except for "nice" clothes.

Anyway, I needed some nice clothes for some important work meetings. Found a lot of nice things at Goodwill in the department as well! Matching dress pants and jacket and great dress shirts. Ties always seem to fit so I didn't have to get them.

Price was ridiculously low.

What kind of job are you interviewing for? Yes dress decent but at the same time goodwill can make you look very dated. It really depends what you are going for.

I am a web application developer/tech lead so that means a nice pair of shoes, nice jeans/pants and a dress shirt. Jacket/tie is too much unless coupled to jeans.

Good point. It's important to make not of the dress code where you are interviewing.

My last job required me to wear a nice pair of jeans and polo shirt. The job I have now is more lax than that - T Shirt and jeans is acceptable.

When I had my job interview for here, I showed up wearing my jeans and polo shirt. Not a problem at all.

Your priorities are not in order. The time you spent posting here would have been better spent finding a shirt, pants, and shoes for $10, and then cleaning, ironing, and polishing.

You could have done this last night, had the clothes hanging ready to go, and still had time to research the company instead of posting about aspirin. Priorities. If you want to get off welfare and live on your own, you'll have to figure out what's important.
