I've been doing the dino 10W30 Castrol or Chevron for the past 98K with no problems at all.
When this AutoRx rinse phase is done, I was thinking of going to one of the HM versions of Chev/Havoline. I've thought about a 5W40 synthetic or something as well, but I don't know. I want this engine to last for a loooong time, but I want the oil I use to be easily obtainable and affordable.

No consumption at all, 98,000 miles.

I don't have any consumpion whatsoever with either of my Jeep 4.0's with Mobile 1 10W30.

My 99 XJ with 140,000 kilometers and my 01 TJ with 91,000 KM. have no noticeable signs of oil use since I bought them..

wn1998, do a search using "Jeep" or "4.0L" in the Used Oil Analysis section of this forum to see actual results of people using the various oils. Even though your engine is a 2.5L, it's strongly related to the 4.0L.
