I have been using the Napa Gold 1515 oversized oil filter and just thought I might give a pure 1 a try next oil change. What Engine is the 1515 mainly used for since most oil filter books don't list any filters except the stock filter size?

I could list all the applications ...but the page would be more than you can fit on 5 screens ...so I'll send you to Wix where you can punch in either your number or put a "5" in front of it and use the Wix number. On the next window, link the filter number. When the popup window appears, with a spledid exploded (phyically dismantled) view of the filter, hit the "all applications" link and you'll see everything from Ford Trucks to International Harvester Combines.

But the filter is the same as a FL1A MotorCraft, PH8A Fram ...ect. Virtually every Ford and Mopar can use this filter. I have it on my 4.0 TJ (longer) and my 3.0 Mitsubishi/Caravan (longer), and my daughter's 3.0 Taurus (same thread and gasket ..much bigger filter than OEM). I'm down to one filter for the whole fleet.

Ya Ford used the 1515/Ph8a size filter from the mid 60's to the late 90's on everything from 4-cyl Pinto's to 460's in Lincolns.

Mopar also used it untill around 1973. They changed the brackets on the 400 and 440 engines around this year and the power steering belt would hit the long filter so they went to the shorter Ph43 filter on everything.

Sorry for the Fram #'s but I know them by heart

Could someone just spit out a model and year to go buy when looking for this size filter or is it used on all Ford trucks?

Also, 59-78 Chrysler 361/383/400/413/426/440
1967-2002 Chrysler 273/318/340/360

Ford 170/200 L6

Jeep L6 242 (4.0L; late)

I use, and strongly recommend, BALDWIN B2-HPG for these apps.
