Jeep 3.6 filter

Running the premium guard PG6296EX in my jeep with 2k miles . I change oil every 6months .

Ran this Ecogard for 3k after adding 20% EC30 to a 5k net run on Jeep 3.6 … pleats all clean …
Last picture is the PG that went in for this OCI …

I'm guessing he is referring to the wavy pleats.

I am guessing material stretches under the flow patterns, not rigid enough?

Keep an eye on the oil cooler/ filter housing on that jeep. Those have a high failure for leaks on the 3.6 and 3.2

Lots of oil filters end up with wavy pleats after use. On cartridge filters, installation can cause some of that pleat distortion. Still functional as long as the pleats aren't widely spaced and tear from oil flow dP. Disqualification from the "pleat beauty contest", lol.

Cartridge is a little too long, gets compressed during use. The first cartridge I used in my Ecotec 2.2 Vue looked more squashed than that after only 1K on RGT 5W30 & HPL Engine Cleaner 30 (was Purolator made R series CQ).

Pentastar filters could be the most common for this - I had exactly one not do that in six years …
