Picked the Wrangler up on Friday morning and drove home Saturday and Sunday. After driving from Houston to central Texas, with 346 miles on the dial, I dumped the factory fill and poured in …….
Also used a Mobil 1 filter. There was a lot of metallic flake particulate in the drained oil and it was already very dark…. so glad I dumped it. I had planned to use the new Castrol “SQ”, but could not find any on the shelves.
Gas mileage the first 500 miles is pretty dang poor at just over 17mpg. We spent the night in Las Vegas, NM, and drove up through the mountains, all the way through Colorado, crossing some 10k and 11k passes and the mileage through that area was great at 22.4 mpg.
I am very pleased with the Jeep. It has a whole different level of refinement and feels very solid compared to Wranglers I have driven in the past. The 2.0L Turbo is just a joy to drive and the power is impressive even at high elevations.
The wife loves it and I suspect it will be a loosing battle, calling it mine.
