I got a letter from Kia "KIA NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION". I thought, great, more junk mail trying to sell me stuff. I opened it anyway. Turns out Kia is extending the warranty on 2011-2015 Sorento Airbag Clocksprings to 15 years with unlimited mileage. A pleasant surprise.

I had replaced the clockspring (myself) about a year ago and the letter included a form for reimbursement. So hopefully I'll get my money back for the part. We'll see.

None of the stuff on the steering wheel will work.

In my case just the airbag warning light came on. I checked the airbag connections under the seats because it's a common failure point if something snags the wiring and should be simple to fix. Everything was OK. Then I made an educated guess the clockspring was bad, it was. The clockspring is the one element of the system exposed to constant mechanical working and in the system is the most prone to failure. I don't have a code reader for the ABS, but reading the code would have been the correct thing to do.

One thing I learned, is to learn about airbag systems before working on them. Airbags can injure or kill if improperly handled or correct procedures are not followed.

I got the letter aswell.i had my sorento in for warranty work last month(wheel sensors) and they gave the letter to me right then.

I think Honda has lifetime warranty for all items related to seat belt, I am not so sure about airbag. I may check with Honda about airbag warranty.
