So, my beloved 4Runner being back home for a couple of weeks, I can finally transfer the plates for my classic vehicle title that I got ready months ago, and l want to share my pride and joy.

Disclaimer - I felt something was off when the lady gave me my plates at the DMV, for some reason I asked "do you have another one", she said can't, you get the next in the pile which is this one.

Later on I looked at it, and - lo and behold, my pride and joy:

FWIW - I already saw plenty of 01-D... plates in my neck of the woods. It's the new crop, and it sounds like many do their Classic Vehicle registrations in the fall, so a large batch went out quick.

Now, I have to keep a low profile, because if the DMV gents realize what they gave me - they'll take it away. I already got a YOM plate approved. So this one will alternate with a nice pair of year of manufacture plates.

Also, the DMV got it half right. I'm old...

I find it funny in the sense that it's the DMVs omission. They typically review plates and chances are they'll catch it the next time they sweep, then will rush to take it away. So as long as I have it it's a game.

It doesn't bother me otherwise. I know I'm old .

In Colorado there is a "kids first" license plate with handprints. A guy got "Eat the" as a vanity plate. I don't think the dmv ever caught it. There was a lady back east who was able to get a risqué license plate through but it got caught years later and the wanted it back.

The "Eat the" plate was in Virginia, and yes, the state DMV did recall the plate after complaints.
