My 99 F150 uses a Motorcraft fl400s. I can get this for 2.99. The Wix for my truck is 5.29. Is the Wix better or the same? Reguardless of cost.

Both of these filters have a silicone anti-drainback valve, yes? If prices were identical, I'd consider it a coin toss. Only advantage might be that Wix probably has a thicker shell- but if your filter is well-protected from road debris that's no real advantage.

But with Wix close to double the price of the MotorCraft, I'd get the MC every time. Just my opinion.

Wix Rocks...

Would you consider putting a Motorcraft filter on your Wix truck?

Seriously, it's an arguable point if Wix is better than Motorcraft, but,,, Motorcraft is Good Enough!!!!

I like Wix better, since their website tells you everything you could ever want to know about their filters. Not so with Motorcraft.

Quality-wise, it's a toss-up. They're both better than they have to be.

For that price difference, go with the MC. The Wix might be a little better, but not that much so. The MC FL400S is a well made filter and you should have no problems with it.

You can get Wix online for the same price as Motorcraft. Just buy enough or add a few 2nd vehicle oil filters -- maybe a few air filters to pay for the shipping costs. Fleetfilter.com

speedtc,
I was just at Wal Mart yesterday, and they had a bunch of the FL910 filters for around $3 each.

No in fact I'd take the Motorcraft if they were the same price. Purolator filters are a bit better IMO. Add to that the silicone ADBV, and threaded end bypass and it's a no brainer.
