Yes, It even says so on the bottle.

It's Group 3. In the US, manufacturers are allowed to call it "synthetic". Not so elsewhere. It originally was pumped out of the ground, thanks to some long dead dinosaur.

A Norse gentleman actually proved that crude, being hydrocarbon, didnt come from decaying flesh or the dino. Comes from decayinng plant matter.

Yes, because we still have plants but dinos are extinct.

Or were you referring to Valvoline being a "true synthetic."

came from forests and swamps mostly. ("dino" oil) same place where coal and natural gas comes from.

I guess that's why you can synthesize gasoline from coal.

I was referring to it being a true synthetic.

No, but BITOG exists so that dysfunctional people like us can make a "mountain out of a molehill". If we don't belabour the irrelevant who will?

I'd have to agree mostly, but I'd have to say we're hardly a dysfunctional lot!

Instead of the term "dysfunctional" please use a more accurate and politically correct term. I would hate for some of us to be offended.

You could substitute the words "raving lunatics" for "dysfunctional people" in your post and probably step on alot less toes.

We are a lot or anal retentive freaks. Valvo isnt a syn in the real sense, IMO. Nor is any other US made OTC oil beyond M1 0w40, TTD 5w40, and GC. Of course this is based on my education here. As stated already, does it really matter? PP we know isnt a true syn and most love it. Those of us that arent its faithful sill appreciate it. Want a true syn, pay for it.

Yes has group III, but pretty sure teh MSDS shows good portion of PAO by CAS number.

At only $19 bucks for a 5 quart jug, I dont care if its a "true synthetic" or not.

I believe the question was whether it is the same type of synthetic as the GC or Amsoil.

That answer of course would be: No
