I do mine every other year *shrug*

I'm with you. Brake fluid is hydroscopic and can absorb water out of the air. That is why you shouldn't use old brake fluid if the bottle has sat around partly empty for awhile. My dad taught me how to flush brake fluid when I was a kid. I was the brake pedal pusher while he cracked open the bleeder valves at each tire. We lived near the ocean so he did it pretty regular. I do it on my vehicles now every two years like SnowDrifter. I live in a desert but still feel I need to do it even if the air is drier. It probably is a profit maker for shops but doing it myself costs only what a bottle of any brand Dot 3 brake fluid costs. I buy the big one and do both my vehicles with it. I have made the DIY one man brake bleeder bottle I found on YouTube. Works great. Two people is better though but I don't always have a brake buddy around to help like my dad did. My kids are grown and between being so busy in life and living far away I don't see them much.

Never done a brake flush. Ever.

Cars don't need toothpicks to clean the mechanical parts.
