Is this cooler too large?

Punisher,

I did get some more prices today.

F8VZ-7A095-AA (cooler) $84.06
F8VZ-7K177-AA (cooler kit) $138.62

F5AZ-3D746-AA which is a power steering pump, hoses and cooler $179.60

They said the cooler is about 4X11 so it is not very big.

I contacted 12 different transmission shops by e-mail, phone and in person. They all said not to worry about getting the transmission too cold, that would never happen. It was 50/50 weather to use the radiator cooler with the add on one or not.

You are right about the cooler not being very big and fairly expensive. I think I would be better getting a good aftermarket one.

What do you think about a 28,000 GVWR Tru Cool cooler?

Thanks for the help.

I installed the 18,000 Tru Cool LPD cooler on my car with great success. I ran mine in series after the factory in rad cooler. This vehicle is similar in size and weight to your Town Car, and it seems to work well. Although I don't have a transmission temperature gauge, the transmission runs significantly cooler than it did before I installed the cooler, especially when towing.

I was looking at the 18,000 or the 24,000, but the transmission shop I bought mine from said that the 18,000 would be enough since I don't do any heavy towing. They are super easy to install, and I recommend that you install the cooler with brakets rather than the plastic clips that go between the rad fins.

Good luck.
