Is this a rebranded Mobil 1 EP filter?

I am 95% sure it is a rebranded Mobil 1 EP, but it is 30-40% cheaper up here. It is $2 more than a Fram TG and rated for 5k miles more. I would only use it for two OCI (14-15k miles) which the TG can technically do also... Worth it?

Absolutely. Obviously Castrol has outsourced the manufacturing, or the manufacturer has licensed with Castrol for their name. In this environment nothing wrong with saving a few bucks on a good quality product.

Mobil 1 are just rebranded purolators anyways.
Mobil doesn't make the filters.

These answers all lead to the truth. Mobil1 is just a brand name only when it comes to oil filters.

Semantics, I think most of us here know that

I guess the question is, does Purolator make an equivalent filter that is the same as the M1 EP, or is that filter made specifically for that branding? The Boss seems to have different media, unless the cartridges are different again. I know the Fram Ultra media is different on the cartridges.

I’m not convinced this a Purolator filter.

Purolators seem to have a lip that extends down from the end cap. The Frams do not… This filter does not. It’s also made in China.

It was supposed to be made in USA and a few reviewers said they got a Chinese made filter. Can't confirm..
The model reviewed was for a VW.

Definitely made in China, I’m not convinced this one is worth any more than any other low end filter. Does it have any metal backing, or any signs of synthetic media?

It has a plastic floating inside tube.

The larger lettering printed on it is the Fram numbering (11665). I do think this is probably the same filter as the M1 EP, but what the M1 actually is, I don't know. I think they might just be a reboxed Tough Guards, but TG's are only rated to 15k, not 20... So I'm not sure.
