Is there a better day to shop for oil at WalMart?

they seem to do much of their restocking in the evening, so I imagine that early in the day is best; and likely before the weekend

Monday is the worst day for stock at my local Walmart. Mid week seems best. However, my store does a dismal job in general of keeping the shelves full. It is hit and miss. That store has to lose thousands of dollars a day due to being out of items.

I go early on weekday mornings, a Tuesday seems to work, about 1-3 minutes after they open. The less people I have to deal with at WMT the better.

Wednesday and Thursday in early afternoon if possible.

I agree, if the stock in the location near you is empty all the time, just order it online and have it delivered to your house (or pick it up at the store)

The Walmart stores that were converted to Super Walmart, at least around here, don't have the big oil racks that holds lots of 5 quart jugs. Just a little shelf that holds about five 5 quart jugs deep, and always out of this or that. On the other hand, the Super Walmart stores that were built new all have the big oil racks. Plenty of oil on the shelves.

I've actually stopped going to Walmart.

$27 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1 + $9 for a Fram Ultra @Walmart

vs

$33 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1 and my choice of filter @AAP

Ask the manager at your local store. No one here can answer this. Every (or most) store gets deliveries 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and I'm 100% confident that motor oil isn't delivered on a set day or days. Even if it's delivered it doesn't mean it's not sitting in the back or in a faraway aisle waiting to be stocked on shelves.

Ask what day they restock your brand. Last week it was winter so I didn't buy oil for the Lancer, but I checked the price on Supertech Syn and the shelves were full., The sun has been out all week and it's in the 40's so I decided to change oil today. Went in this morning and all but 1 jug of 10w30 was left. Lucked out and got the job done, but almost didn't .People buy oil when the weather is good if they don't have a garage. Walmart moves a lot of Supertech around here. In the warmer months the shelves are often empty.

I was told by an associate WM depletes the distribution center inventory on merchandise from Xmas trough Jan 31. Feb 1 is the first day of Walmart physical tax year and they start stocking the distribution center back up with inventory. I have ordered oil from Walmart.com.

Walmart.com has $15 6 quart "wine boxes" of Havoline conventional. $35 gets you free shipping.

I like to go when there are less "Jabba the Hut" types driving around on those scooter carts.

The stock people that checks for me when the shelves are empty (almost always) says shipment comes in Wednesdays and goes on the shelves by the next day.

I get my Mobil 1 from W/M during Rollbacks.....$22/jug....ideally when the $2/qt rebates are being offered. I haven't paid more than around $12.88/jug net for Mobil 1 over the past 3 yrs.

The FUG's you can get for $4-$6 each buying then in 6 packs on line from various suppliers. So under $20 net for oil and filters. I have stock for another couple of years.
