Great way to thicken up oil.

Does VSOT actually thicken up oil too? I bought like 12 bottles from NAPA last year, the small silver bottles..i belive they were dated 1999. Directions say to add entire bottle to 4-6 quart sumps. WIll this VSOT thicken up a 5w30? and if so to what grade? Maybe its best to ration out the bottles. like 1 1/2 oz per quart?
10W-40 usually costs the same or less than 5w30. If you believe in thicker oil, why not buy it is the first place?

In a beaten oil burner it has its place, new or old engine. I wouldn't put it in anything I own that is running well.

To the thread starter, if you're worried about zinc and add packs, I'd run a high mileage 5w30 like MaxLife...
