Never had to add oil before during the OCI's in either engine. I always have used PP or Quaker state syn in the 3.5 V6(30K miles) and Mobil 1 HM and regular Mobil 1 in the 3800 V6(70K miles)and never had an issue using oil between OCI's. Both the 3800 V6 and the Hyundai 3.5 are usually easy on oil. What's up with EP? I'm thinking about draining both and going to PP...
If your newer cars are using oil at that rate, it means there are engine problems. Switching to Pennzoil Platinum does not magically make engines stop using oil.
+1. There is no magic oil that transforms engines. However regular M1 protects as well up to 10K as EP. EP is designed to last longer so that's why reg M1 has a 10K warranty and EP has a 15K warranty. Even with that said I know several that go much longer on reg M1 than 10K some up to 20K OCIs. Here is a link from XM that explains this.

It should possibly be noted as well that Mobil 1 0w40 is probably equal or better than EP. They just don't have two products in that category.
