Is Marvel Mystery Oil still a good top cylinder lube for small engines?

Is Marvel Mystery Oil still a good upper cylinder lubricant for small engines, like lawn mowers? At one time it was used even in cars and trucks, and especially in small airplane engines. Can it be used to prelube a cylinder after an engine has been sitting all winter?

I still use it or a shot of 2 cycle oil.

For storage of any small engine, two- or four-cycle, I use Lube Control full strength.

Remove plug and rotate flywheel so piston is at Bottom Dead Center; pour in two ounces, let sit for an hour, and then rotate flywheel a dozen times. If you have a horizontal piston engine, you may have to tilt mower or orient engine so that LC is sitting on top of piston.

Replace plug and HV wire and you're set until spring.

Molaule, is that BEFORE or AFTER you change out the old oil? If it is after do you just let the drain-by stay into the new oil?

Also what are your thoughts about leaving 1oz. or so LC in the new oil over the winter?

That's after I change out the old oil. I prefer new oil in there for the winter.

I don't see any problems with leaving LC in all winter. It should stabilize the oil and provide some extra measure of rust inhibition.
