No. BMW dropped 0WXX oils for LL01 and LL04 in 2018 update and then allowed it again since 2022.Presumably 0W-30 reformulated to regain LL-01?

Castrol told me they did change the formulation, and the code on the bottle did change, but whatever change it was it does not seem very meaningful. Specs are almost the same and additive package looks the same.Presumably 0W-30 reformulated to regain LL-01?
They changed packaging etc. Companies won’t say: nothing changed. They have to advertise that product “improved,” whatever that means. IMO, it stayed the same. Unless there was tweaking around calcium etc. But that doesn’t have anything to do with LL01 re-approval.Castrol told me they did change the formulation, and the code on the bottle did change, but whatever change it was it does not seem very meaningful. PDS specs changed slightly and the formula code on the bottle changed. Just like M1 bottles with SN on the back that say 6748 have SP oil in the bottle. I'm not saying it is significant, just that it clearly changed. They changed packaging etc. Companies won’t say: nothing changed. They have to advertise that product “improved,” whatever that means. Will see what VOA says. Changes happen bcs. logistics etc. Still, IMO nothing to do with LL approvals. There are no any meaningful, if at all, base stock changes. Take into consideration that there was disruption in the logistics bcs. Ukraine.PDS specs changed slightly and the formula code on the bottle changed. Yes, I doubt it has anything to do with LL01. Just the usual tweaks. Will see what VOA says. Changes happen bcs. logistics etc. Still, IMO nothing to do with LL approvals. Yes, it's a perfect choice for that application. Is Mobil 1 0w40 Euro ok for an E46 if oil changes are every 7000 miles ? I sense this oil is one of the best at a reasonable price
Excellent. Thanks as always.Do you think it has a bit of group 4 or 5 in it ?Yes, it's a perfect choice for that application.
Not sure about the current PAO content, but Mobil is believed to be using AN's in their more recent formulations, this oil included (AN's are Group V).Excellent. Thanks as always.Do you think it has a bit of group 4 or 5 in it ?
Interesting, there must be a delay in getting it added to the API EOLCS Directory.
The PDS was updated 22 APR 2024 so pretty recent. I know castrol redesigned all their labels too.Interesting, there must be a delay in getting it added to the API EOLCS Directory.
