Is Kreen safe for 2 strokes/gaskets/plastic tanks?

Haven't really heard anything about people using Kreen (Kano Labs, maker of Kroil) for cleaning anything other than automobile engines. So I was wondering, has anyone ever added some of this to their gas for OPE, and used it in a 2 stroke engine? At one time I used an empty plastic gallon jug that previously had MMO in it, to dump Kreen in there so I had a non-spill method of pouring it, and what I noticed the next day is that the Kreen had chemically attacked whatever type of plastic is used for the gallon jugs of MMO--it became hazy, "etched". So since this occurred, I am concerned about using it in OPE that has plastic fuel tanks, fearing that it might dissolve some of the plastic, and then this contaminated solution would get into the carb and engine and ruin it.

I called the company and the guy I talked to said there should be no problem using it for this application, but I'd like to hear of anyone else who has personal experience with the product. Correct me if I am wrong to assume the following, but since Kreen has been used safely in engine crankcases of vehicles, then I can assume it won't hurt the gaskets in a carb nor the crankcase gasket. Perhaps the type of plastic used for the containers MMO comes in is not the same as anything used in the fuel tanks for trimmers, mowers, etc, but if it were, maybe its apparent aggressiveness towards such plastic wouldn't be occurring with it being fairly diluted with gas at around 2oz per gallon.

a 2 stroke crankcase has gasoline splashing around in it continuously, I highly doubt there are any deposits or varnish. what are you looking to clean in your OPE? cylinder head? or crankcase?

Sorry to object, but a two stroke has gasoline VAPOR as well as oil vapor and combustion by products in the crankcase. No liquids.

As anyone who has owned some will tell you, even a two stroker can have crud build up...

I've pulled apart a lot of two cycle engines. Some almost 40 years old and badly abused. Combustion chamber(s) may have accumulated a lot of carbon but the crankcases never had anything in them that would constitute "crud". Virtually every one was very clean despite some of them being quite worn and in need of new bearings and seals.

If your two cycle engine is running well, why pump questionable products through it. If it isn't running well, check fuel system/intake/carburetor, exhaust, spark plug and fasteners. Failing that, take a look at the exhaust ports for carbon build up. if you have a lot there, chances are the head/piston crown/rings will be carboned up too. Clean it up and put it back to work.

Alot depends on type of plastic. The mmo bottle may only be rated for naptha oils like mmo, and not a solvent like kreen.
