Is Fram's Tough Guard now their best filter?

Alas, Hastings is gone.
The original building block of my automotive coolness is no more.

When I was a younger man, I visited friends in Sweden and Germany. I'd bring Hastings oil filters as an "American gift".
They were always heavier, therefore better, than any filters available over there.

A Fram Endurance with one pleat because the oil will go through the single pleat enough times that it will get to 99% efficient at 20 microns?

Good point but the bypass filter section is a bit vacant in posts. I am still trying to understand it better. We all see diesel soot being cleaned up from the oil the full flow cannot filter when a 10% bypass filter is added, in the Amsoil video. That’s their sales pitch for them. I guess it is the engine doesn’t manufacture or get spoon fulls of particles every minute or something. If it did, those spoon fulls have been all through the engine as that’s where they came from.

TG is the least popular. That's probably why we haven't discovered any QC issues yet.

I've run several TG cartridge style filters for 20k and they looked good. ...

Same story here. At 25806 miles on a Chinese-made TG10358, it came out looking practically new. The best constructed filter I've seen for that application.
