Is Fram ultra synthetic a good oil filter for a 2001 Toyota Camry?

I'm using Microgard but I'm wanting to use a different one on the next oil change because Microgard doesn't have an anti drainback valve and there are dry starts when I start the engine. I know that because the oil light comes on for 2-3 seconds when I start the engine when it's cold. Microgard does good with keeping the oil clean but I don't like it that it allows all of the oil to drain back into the pan. Does Fram ultra have an anti drainback valve? How good does it filter the oil? I use Mobil1 full synthetic high mileage and change it every 5000-6000 miles.

ADBVs should be specific to the application; you haven't said what that is.
But any filter which requires one for the unique situation should have one.
Are you sure yours does not have one, or is it possible it's malfunctioning?

Yes, for both filters used in the two engines (2.2L 4-cyl and 3.0L V6) used in a 2001 Camry.

Yeah, strange that the MicroGard doesn't have an ADBV. Does the MicroGard Select (extended life) filter have an ADBV?

Thanks for the clarification Zee.

Are we sure the MG doesn't have an ADBV, or could it just be malfunctioning? Pix would be helpful if the OP decides to pull it off soon.

Orange Can Of Death. Just kidding. Use Fram filters, including the Fram Synthetic, all the time and have never had a complaint. Every so often, the basic Filters go for cheap on Amazon, so I have a few in my stash.

If it has an ADBV it should be protecting the engine during startup and I shouldn't be getting an oil light. The oil light should go off immediately after I start the engine.

On my vehicles, "immediately" is around 1-2 seconds. If I do an oil change and don't pre-fill the filter it takes 3-4 seconds to get the low oil pressure light to do off.
