I read somewhere on BITOG that Delco oil is actually Formula Shell. Is this true? And does this remain the case for bulk oil? Reason I ask is that we use Delco Bulk 5w30 at our shop, and while I've never thought about have a voa done, some observations I've noticed are:

This bulk oil tends to either leak or burn faster in MY CAR than does most of the quart oil I've put in it. Quart oil has ranged from Amsoil to Super Tech to Maxlife to Havoline to whatever else is cheap. It seems that if I put our bulk oil in it, my oil spot in the driveway is substantially larger, and I have to add oil much more often than most of the other oil I've used.(My '96 Toyota 2200 leaks a decent amount of oil) At the moment, it has a mixture of Rotella 5w40 and Amsoil OE 5w30.
The oil tends to be really dark (I know that is not a fair evaluation of oil) when it comes out of the cars we drain, and also just smells pretty used.

Could it be true that my observations on this oil are true and not just a placebo effect?? I know that many people will swear that bulk oil and quart oil are the same formulations. Sometimes I wonder though.
