As a Sopus salesman I can tell you that QS no longer makes ST

Do you know who that next contract was awarded to in that area of the country?... other than Warren?

Sopus couldn't tell me. I don't think they knew. I'm told by sources that its Warren and/or Mobil.

This "Who makes Super Tech conventional?" question comes up about 3 times a month and I think the most common answer is still the correct one based as based the Walmart MSDS file.

ExxonMobil has limited regional distribution supplied from the New Jersey lube plant to limited regions in the East.

Super Tech from the Specialty Oil Division of Pennz/QS has limited distribution in some of the Gulf Coast states.

And, of course, WPP supplies nationally from the Omaha/Council Bluffs location.

Look Sopus no longer does this. When they did they faxed me a spec sheet. It was in fact packaged by QS. The last time I asked they (sopus) told me they no longer package it. So there is no reason to believe they still make it. If you look on the bottom of some Mobil bottles...some of them have a G on it. If you find any ST made by QS it will be or should be old stock. And probably old spec. stuff.

I was in a Walmart in Austin looking at all of the ST Bottles, 5qt, 1qt, High Mileage, Synthetic, regular and not only are the bottles the same shape as Penzoil and QS, but the production codes are in the same format and and location as the Penzoil and QS. Having checked my PP stash for production date, I recognized some of the ST oils even had the same HLPA prefix as my PP. I compared a few of the comparable oils like ST High Mileage and QS High Mileage and several had the same plant prefixes. Anectdotal observations but I would wager that lots of ST products on Texas shelves are coming from SOPUS.

Doc - Do you actually read the other posts before you fire-off your replies?

I posted a link to a MSDS sheet, that is only 9 months old, which specifically states that Specialty Oil Company(a SOPUS division/brand) is supplying 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, 20W-50, under the 715205,91173,715210,91079,715287,91081,715292,91171 product codes.

Will someone please copy and post the product code from one of these SOPUS look-a-like bottles & I can e-mail the Walmart Haz-Materials dept. and request the supplier info?

Thanks!

I stopped in WM at Georgetown, Texas today to grab some oil filters for one of my diesel tractors, and checked the ST bottles a little closer than last week. QS High Mileage v. ST High Mileage, ST Full Syn, v. QS Q Syn, ST Dexron III v. Penzoil Dexron III, and the production codes all show the same respective plants of mfg. with the most of the production dates being in late 2006/early 2007. SOPUS may be cheaping down the ST products to meet WM's price points but the products are coming from SOPUS.
