Supreme and Havoline are both excellent oils. Really nice so many folks notice. Supreme, especially, is a real value too. I keep telling my boss to charge more (grin)...
I work for Chevron, in the Lubricants department, and have been around for guite a few years in various jobs. The passion around oil is really neato here. Especially for an "insider" like me...
I certainly do not agree with some of the stuff posted in the various threads as reproducible, material, scientifically accurate informed fact
(but a suprising amount is spot-on...)...and the "posers" are funny in a way...but heck I dont agree with my friend's assessments of my favorite sports teams either!
By the way, base oils are to a degree, fungible (similar ones can be switched in use)...meaning almost all the lubricant companies save on freight by not shipping oil across the hinterlands. They trade/purchase for barrels near their lubricant blending plants. This means that in California, for example, a lot of companies use Chevron group II/II+/III base oils from Richmond, Claifornia and in Texas a lot of companies use XOM or Motiva base stocks.
