Is Chevron going to change now that Havoline is?

Good question... I may have to start stocking up on the older formulations!
I probably won't buy any of the new formulation of Havoline.. I'll stick with Chevron, unless they raise their prices, then I'll just stock up on tropartic or only buy oil on sale.
There are so many real good oils to pick from .
Wow! a $0.10 price jump (New "Deposit Shield"). You guys are really going to have to stop worrying about the sky falling.

Are you guys serious getting it at $0.59/Q, here in CA it it not less than $2.19/Q. How can there be so much of a difference in prices?
I've got about 200 quarts that I've bought for 49 cents a quart as recent as last september.
Checkers had deals for that price for years. Around here they have dried up.
Sometimes in CA you can see 59 cents a quart deals.

I don't know, but my guess is that Chevron may be trying to differentiate the Chevron Supreme and Havoline brands to a greater degree by keeping Supreme as their standard oil and trying to market Havoline as the Super Special Deposit Shield oil at a higher price. If my guess is correct, then we will not soon see a change in Chevron Surpreme.
Whether or not the new higher price tier will stick for Havoline or not is a big question. Most motor oil buyers seem to either buy on price or else out of long brand loyalty. Moving a line like Havoline up market may keep any long time loyal Havoline users while loosing those who bought it because it was a good oil cheap.

The only statement I have seen is that MSRP is supposed to be $2.69. For all I know MSRP of the previous Havoline was $2.59. The most it is has went up at any store I frequent is $0.10. Fred's got $1.99 and the new "Deposit Shield" is $2.09. We havnt got Chevron for $0.59 in this part of the country for 20 years.
I think most all of the oils are too expensive. Wait until gas gets up to around $2.00 a quart.
A local retailer in my area has lowered the price of the
old Havoline to $1.27 a quart. Which is the lowest that i've seen.
I'm sure that some here have seen lower, and some have

case of the 5-30. I can live with a buck 27 a quart
on such a good dino.

In another month or-so, you may regret not buying 2-3 cases.
A three case stash qualifies you for contracting the BITOG Oil-Stash Disease - that many of us feel is the most healthy disease one can succumb to.
