Wanting to know, if auto rx was mainly designed ot be used with 10w 30 oils? I read some use 5w 30, but the majority use 10w 30.

In practice not much difference. In theory I would think the oil with the most solvency would be desirable.
That likely means a Store Brand 10w30 to get the most Group I possible.

A cheap oil with high solvency and basic additive package to insure it doesnt interfere with the Group V Esters in Auto-Rx.
The more highly refined the basestock the lower the solvency. In the real world I suspect as long as the oil doesnt contain
any Group V it likely doesnt make a difference. When Auto-Rx was designed most Dinos were likely primarily Group I.

ah i see okay:) TO me, it might make a difference then. As you say, when auto rx was desigend, most dinos were group I. So thas more knowledge for me to use wisely, and correctly:) Thanks!

I don't think it has anything to do with group I solvency. It's more the issue of esters in the higher groups interferring with arx's ability to be polar and knock deposits off metal components. Over in the additive forum (hint, hint) Frank and Daryl just posted a test showing good maintenance results using Penzoil Platinum.

Now, how arx reacts with different additive packages may be worth exploring...ie how do various levels of zddp and/or moly affect arx's ability to remove deposits...

just changed my oil and filter,[amsoil series 3000 hdd 5w30 and amsoil EaO filter. guess i should have waited and used a dino oil for the auto-rx treatment.

The solvency of gp.I base oil is for the additive package. If gp.I had a "cleaning" ability we wouldn't see the deposits from the gp.I base oils.
