If you're looking at a sound bar. I HIGHLY recommend this. I used to be into sound, my whole life using separates (midrange stuff like NAD/ONYKO ETC, new home, new interests, less space and aesthetics was important. My wife have tried, had shipped to us no less than 4 different bars, some up to $900 or so (cant remember but maybe up to $1,200) others in here recommended this one, also a CONVINCING online review.
It seemed to good to be true for the price. With any of these sound bars room dimensions are important on how well they reflect sound. Our roughly 12 x 15 room with 11 foot ceiling, was perfect for this, Sound comes from the side quite clearly, you will not have rear sound and that is fine with me. It's really impressive.
Here is the cool part about sound bars, you can return them. Amazon is great, large warehouse clubs etc.
JBL website also is easy free returns and a big plus for heavy items.
SO you have nothing to lose, try them all, make sure to check that the return polices I speak of are still valid.
Anyway, I suggest you try this if you are looking for good quality TV, movie performance at a basement price. As far as listing to music, eh, it's acceptable but not like separates would be, this is a TV movie sound bar.
Yeah, I thought it was too good to be true when others in BITOG recommended it. They were correct. Honestly? You have nothing to lose buying direct from JBL with free return shipping if you dont like it.

I actually found my post but I cant find the other posts that first mentioned it. I guess with some searching you can.
Can I please recommend a sound bar for those who want to keep things simple? We purchased it months ago, as we downsized into a new home, I didnt want our large audio system anymore that contained 6 rather large speakers. Was a great system for a large area with 16 foot ceilings but that is in the past.
Anyway, I researched a lot, we purchased and returned quite a few, some were over $1000 Sony 7000 and lessor 5000, some others based on a recommendation in here when I asked.
To our surprise HANDS Down the winner was a JBL BAR 500 as someone here recommended and the price was almost...
At the time and used on another post in here this was a review on an earlier model. Called the 5.1 the BAR 500 which I and another in here have is refined further with two more buttons on the remote, one to adjust bass in 5 steps (we keep ours on 3 our of 5 sometimes even 2 out of 5) and another for a self adjusting sounds test.
Im not pushing anything, just suggesting to anyone, it cost nothing to try, free returns. You either like it or not, all rooms are different and sound choice for movies can vary.
