It surprises me the number of older BMWs and Mercedes around here that are detailed beautifully, but blow blue smoke going down the road.
Probably a "tune" that isn't appropriate. It surprises me the number of older BMWs and Mercedes around here that are detailed beautifully, but blow blue smoke going down the road.
Don’t worry. It’s just the gas cap.Freind looking for a newish truck goes to the gm dealer here and finds a decent ride, dash is lit up with messages....sales says don't worry- buy the truck and we'll sort it later. FU fix it before it hits the sale lot. 2025 6.6 2500. 60k with 60k km
No reputable dealer should try to sell anything with a CEL or even a TPMS light. Fix it then put it on the lot. I don't understand the logic- they would have sold it on the spot if running correct. He's still rocking a 09 ford 6.0L desiel as the price of trucks are stupid now- he does want a gasser now preferably Toyota- but Toyota has their own issues.Don’t worry. It’s just the gas cap.![]()
Diesel perhaps? It surprises me the number of older BMWs and Mercedes around here that are detailed beautifully, but blow blue smoke going down the road.
2007 was the last year of a 6.0L in an F-Series so a 2009 would have the 6.4L.I don't understand the logic- they would have sold it on the spot if running correct. If you fall for that, then IMO, it’s on you.Freind looking for a newish truck goes to the gm dealer here and finds a decent ride, dash is lit up with messages....sales says don't worry- buy the truck and we'll sort it later. FU fix it before it hits the sale lot. 2025 6.6 2500. 60k with 60k km
That reminds me.. friend was looking at buying a hyundai elantra gt and wanted me to look at it. Go to dealer, test drive it, no salesperson with me, pull over and plug in my obd2 scanner. Guess what?! Tons of emissions related codes and the CEL was turned off about 25 times! It's nice how the ECU tells on them!No reputable dealer should try to sell anything with a CEL or even a TPMS light. Fix it then put it on the lot. Lazy #@$%&@!!!
I’ve realized that the more educated a person is, the more narrow is their knowledge range.I USED to have that opinion. I work with a lot of Phd researchers that would ask me to change their lawn mower spark plug. Really?????
They would get back to their work analyzing stats and high level projects (something I cannot do) at double/triple my salary.
I stopped judging them. But yes, being self reliant is a valuable skill.
Wow it really makes you examine the mental condition of people lately. I understand some will tell me that they may not be "car people", but even trying to vacuum stuff isn't rocket science. just wow!So let me share a car I looked at today.
A 95 Geo Prizm that has 200k miles, bad paint, clean enough interior on the FB market place ad. The seller is not very responsive, maybe he was busy, that's ok. Waited till the weekend to met him, at the wrong address, till his son found out he typed in the wrong number (1070 instead of 3070).
So we met in front of a public establishment to look at the car. Interior is worse as expected. The photo of the car interior is only showing the nice part. The headliner fell off and cut out. Loose screws were put in every single storage of the car like door handle, glove box, center console, etc. I told him to pop the hood so I can take a look. Water is everywhere and he said there is a crack in the radiator (!).
Told him to pop the trunk. It almost look like there was a flood in there he was not even trying to vacuum and clean it out. Told him to test drive it and it actually surprisingly not bad. It didn't overheat and it didn't have any weird shift noise. The suspension is actually working ok too. He showed me the DMV renewal form and it is expired by 2 months. I ask him if he could pass smog then I will consider. He then bring out all those things like there are other buyers wanting to look at it. I told him if he doesn't want to do it he can just sell it to them.
I can see someone buying just the shell of a CRX, Prelude, Integra, Celica, Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, etc. Nobody would buy a Geo Prizm that cannot be registered and has potential head gasket problem from a cracked radiator that he just ignored, even for $1500. Some people just don't care about what they own and will just drive it till they die and then replace it. I was going to buy it for $1500 then have some fun with it before crushing it for $1350, but I don't think it would make it till that happen.
To be fair. That guy looks like he is diabetic (early 60s to late 60s, severely obese), and probably already burnt out working hard labor that doesn't pay well. He is in similar condition as a lot of the late 80s early 90s senior citizen in medical support I know of. This is probably a car that "I will get to it" and ignored in the backyard and finally his wife force him to get rid of.Wow it really makes you examine the mental condition of people lately. ahh ok, then I remove my harshness on the guy. I've had family members in similar health situations so i know how the "I'll get around to it" never happens. But I will let my statement stand for the rest of the able-bodied public, lately. To be fair.
