You're being obtuse. You would like to have the discussion pointed to the fact that both phones use the same materials (metal, glass, and plastic) and they are equals.
I am stating that the BODY of the SIII is made of plastic. It may have a metal rim for looks, but the body and "frame" of the phone is plastic.
Where as the IPhone has a body made out of solid metal.
There is a major difference from what you are stating and what I am stating.
Obtuse? No sir, you are simply being rude now.
These images illustrate the following:
1. Both phones use a metal frame (stainless for iPhone, aluminum for the SGS3) as the base to mount the PCB and the body plastic/glass to.
2. The iPhone has a plastic back with a sheet of glass over it for tactile feel.
3. The SGS3 uses a plastic back, with a plastic back mount because the back is NOT RIGID. So there is a plastic "brace" that it clips into. This brace mounts to the aluminum FRAME.
4. Both phones mount the glass/screen assembly to the METAL FRAME.
You are trying to argue that the iPhone is better built than it actually is and that the SGS3 has an inferior build to what it actually has. The big difference is how the back is made and affixed to the body. They BOTH use a metal frame as the core of their units with the SGS3 having the extra piece of body plastic to attach the back to as well as provide access to the removable battery, SDCARD and SIM card.
And this is hardly exclusive to the SGS3, iPhone..etc. You are arguing with the wrong person on this one, I have literally had close to 100 smartphones and their predecessors apart, dating right back to the original Blackberry 950. Even the old blue blackberry phones were an aluminum frame with plastics and the PCB mounted to them. This is STANDARD construction.
The major difference with the iPhone is the use of stainless over aluminum for weight (and it feels colder, which feels higher quality...) and the use of a skin of glass on the back plastic to add to tactile feel of the device.
