I'm making a killing on KKPT and MRDAF. I mean a real killing. EGYF was also great last month. These little oil and gas companies are doing well. They're OTC though so be careful.

Yeah, but what would I buy?

Pitzel, I've heard of these people, but don't know any specifics. Their commissions seem to be about the lowest in the business......?

Volatility increased in the S&P 500 this past week, along with not much movement. About 6 points or so down. This usually indicates a change in trend, so I'm still looking for a bump up in the averages next week.....

P, I'm worried for the moment about oil related issues. There may be some continued downward trending and as interest rates rise and the dividend yields become more risk sensitive by comparison.

That being said, PGH always semms to make an upward move the last week of the month as people try to snake that next monthly dividend payout.

Namaste.

Time to get serious.Take around $200,000 (non-retirement/non IRA funds)

What is the best yield you can find with a reasonable risk?

Anything 4% to 7% sounds interesting.

Below 4% very safe - but not enough yield.

Above 6% or 7% suspect of volatility.

Thanks and ciao!

PS Needless to say I had a good day in the market today.

A good selection of companies that are hugely established and give a good dividend. So you dont really need to trade much... just reinvest.

Maybe a mix like 3M and J&J, with others mixed in?

Put some into I bonds to offset inflation and preserve some money from a risk prespective?

Ive heard that as a set it and forget it type of thing, an index S&P 500 and an index bond fund, 50/50 is a good way to average 6-7%. Might be a good buy, since the S&P is said to be undervalued...

Yeah, just in the first week or so with my new account there, and I am absolutely amazed at how well it all works.

As an aside, just got an email tonight that they changed their fee schedule for US investors. $0.005/share (minimum $1/trade). Pretty impressive, IMHO. I might abandon some of my ETFs if I can replicate the indicies this inexpensively.
