Whatever dude. My money is in good hands. They make me money and than some. Estate, planning, tax advice. Play your silly day trader game. I wish you the best.
If your so independently wealthy and we are such trailer trash, why even come over here to spew your hate? This I never understood.

Are you so insecure you have to come over here and say "whatever dude"? My guess is your not even from the correct generation to understand what that phrase actually means, because if you did you just confirmed your getting the same canned package as everyone else and you just don't care. Let me guess - 1% plus there putting you in commissionable products.

I could care less what you do with your money. Unsure why you care so much about mine.

Day traders, options traders, short sellers all provide liquidity. There aren't many left. Why work when you can just buy and hold - feds got your back, everything goes up. Thats what I do.

Waiting for that day when the market cannot even open because there is no bid - like 1987. Will be worse next time. No idea when that will be, but it will happen. Unbalanced market.

I don't have a financial advisor. I have a wealth advisor. Most of these posts are folks struggling to achieve that very thing. Bless your hearts.
Each to their own. You have no idea how well I or anyone else on this forum is doing financially. Personally I am highly diversified. I have lotsa wealth advisors but I don't necessarily listen to them.

Just wish everyone well in their endeavours. Including yourself. All good.

I did not but if you are retired or close it would have been compelling.

I'm not retired yet but I'm 66 so it's gotta be in the near future. Especially since I work a pretty physical job I figure my back is going to be the factor that gets me. I have greatly reduced the investment risk I take. No more commodity trading which I did for 30 years. Stock allocation way way down. No more selling naked calls either.

According to Steve Jobs, once you get to a certain point, what's the point of going further?
Please take care of your back, and congrats on your near retirement! I can tell you, if you are lucky enough to be financially and health wise OK, it's a pretty sweet deal.

I'm with you

Do you think I could just send my account numbers, along with my tax and SS information, to have this put directly into my account?

What’s the difference between financial and wealth advisor ?

Lots of people need help planning their financial future.

I’m sure there’s some professionals in this career field here on BITOG.
I wonder who.

The difference is people that already have the means... financial security vs those that wish to get there.

In my case, the Schwab Wealth Advisory prepares a tailored plan based on my positions, goals, age, etc. I also have access to special advisors, such as tax and, in my current position, advice on opportunities for good use of wealth after I am a gone.

Regarding investing, I have been exposed to a myriad of products that I would never have been aware of. It might not be a fair analogy, but, "Do you do your own brain surgery?"

One example... A year ago I need to generate about $500K to buy a property. Pretty much out of the blue. My primary jumped on it and came up with a beautiful solution and facilitated the transfer, all completed in a few days. Minimized tax burden, etc. Well done and the purchase went through with without a hitch.

But no, I do not take all their advice. But I am very happy with the results. My opinion is, when you get to a certain point, you need qualified help. What's a number? Dunno. $1M? $5M? $10M? $20M? More? If you are lucky enough, your money will far out live you so you need qualified help.

These people have a job. There's a reason for it. Oh yeah, I think most people are dumb about money. Just my 2 cents and that's more than you paid for it. And probably more than it's worth... Ha!

I would never know about things like tax loss harvesting, Roth IRA conversions, dynasty trusts, asset location...not just allocation/diversification, estate planning...it's not that straight forward. If we need cash to buy a car or a home, they make it happen seamlessly and with minimal tax consequence.
Our advisors earn every penny we pay them.

Money isn't everything. My neighbor was a wealthy man until he went to prison and died a few years later. He focused on money while my focus was on quality of life. I'm still here enjoying this old world. 👍 Of course I would be enjoying it more without everyone giving their money to these big corps that are robbing us all blind.

It's no fun when your back gives completely out. Money at that point becomes the least of your worries. Severe spinal stenosis, four herniated disks plus a bunch of other medical terms that I can't remember and don't feel like looking up plus leukemia. I'm just 61 and retired at 50. Moral of the story is don't put off enjoying life while you still can.

I get it. I spare my back as much as I can by lifting with my legs etc.. The tradeoff is my job keeps me in shape and loose. Also my wife wants me to work until next May when she turns 65 so she can stay on my insurance. I'll probably quit this job next year some time. I'm looking for opportunities after this. I can go back to the trucking job I had until I took my current job 15 years ago but trucking is hard on backs too. Tractor Supply is also an option but I would have to man the computer cash register some and throw bags of feed so probably not. I'm looking for volunteer opps as well. Anything to stay out of the recliner. I appreciate the replies.
