I agree 100% that dependence on China for anything more important than cheap clothes is a big problem. I don’t understand the trade war with Canada and Mexico 🤷🏻‍♂️. AFAIK, neither of those countries pose any threats to the US.
Luckily, I put enough cash aside in January to last a few years. I’ll be 591/2 next year, but I would not want to take out of my 401K given that the value has plummeted.
Hopefully the situation is stabilized by 2026-27.
Actually they do without getting political....drugs and the death and Insidiousness that comes with it...
The alternate Chinese pipeline. I do respect your thoughts however.
I agree we need to resolve it asap...

Small like not really worth it small but JIK I need bragging rights for winning when market dives. Hair on fire insurance

Overall back above where I ended Friday so there is that
Yeah I'm playing it safe too...nothing is making much sense right now and as a rule I try not to put my $$$ in harms way....

Uncertainty is the opposite of stabilization and we have uncertainty in spades. What's next? Anybody's guess. When does it stop? Anybody's guess.

Historical data shows that April tends to be a top-performing month for the stock market. There are a number of reasons for this, of course. One is tax returns; investors have some cash.

Historical data only serves as a reference point, not a crystal ball. Most economists do not take market predictions seriously. This year, we can already see why.

One thing; hope is a lousy strategy.

Well yesterday the Japanese said they were not going to bend over like walmart tent in the wind to make a deal, and the market dropped 3%.

Then Today Bessent said behind closed doors were close to a deal with the Chinese because the current situation is unsustainable, even though we are not actually negotiating with the Chinese yet, and the market went up 3%.

What part doesn't make sense. :ROFLMAO:

Not to go where we shouldn't but
Bessent doesn’t inspire me at all... enough said from the choir...

I will withhold judgement. However word on the street is he is trying to break the yuan like he and and Soros shorted and broke the British Pound back in the 90's. I am trying to wrap my head around how exactly that would even work, but that is what "they" are saying.

Fidelity says I get half and they get half of the daily interest. A rip off IMHO. It’s low risk to me. I can exit the position any time and they do the work of a finding a bank to put up the collateral for a clown to have shares to short/buy covered puts.
Huh? How does that even work?

Are you making more on by lending the shares out than half the interest I assume. Still, I thought the shares were still yours technically?

Yes they are mine to sell and grow and collect ALL the dividends so I own them in all the benefit ways

The loan in is computed daily paid monthly. I think I have 5 loans out now

But they are loaned out at a cost to the borrower. The shares really don’t go anywhere - borrower banks on share price declining typically

Just heard a great line from one the stock market "pundits" on TV. Headline for today should read, "Stocks Surge Today on Treasury Secretary saying, Water is Wet!". Amen! (y)

I'd like to know who knew he was going to say it, and how much they made off it.
