I hold some physical silver but not gold - hard to buy groceries with $2,400 eagles if needed. My positions in gold are paper - GLD and GDX. Nice and liquid if I decide to pocket a spike.

Well, as we can see I got lucky, depending on how you look at it. Glad I got out when I did with min loss. Early broke through that'd as of mid day today 165 might be the number, either way, I would have been freaking out *LOL*
Next strong support is around $130

I'm sure most of you here know this, but for those that don't...

I am the treasurer of our local food bank, and one of our donors advised us he wanted to make a $50,000 donation :D:D:D, but in the form of stock. We quickly opened a corporate brokerage account at Fidelity and he had his broker transfer the stock (118 shares of SPGI). The Board preferred I sell it and hold the cash at 4.95% in the core account, which I did.

Turns out the donor bought this stock in 1974 for $50.15, so it was 99.9% appreciated. By donating it in the form of stock he did not have to pay capital gains tax, and could deduct the full $50k donation. And since the food bank is a non-profit, we got the full $50K and also do not have to pay tax. Win-Win!

Now that we have the brokerage account we are promoting donations of appreciated stock on our website and social media as an alternative to cash donations. Hopefully by letting the public know of the mutual benefits we may get some new donors.

Well, that was interesting. I’ve been lightening up all week on my high beta stuff. The S&P has blown through every support level like it didn’t exist. No idea where this ends, the watchers say there’s still lots of liquidity, so who knows.

I might be crazy, but they might be approaching a pivotable point in their history.
I truly am hoping they have some earth shattering product up their sleeve.

With so many me two products out there now they’re going to need something like this is my feeling. I never own the stock except for the past week for a few days with that said I love the company, It’s products and their company mythology.
But I’m not like most people and the competition is now offering much the same, but not exactly the same as far as Security and privacy and quality of apps

Yeah, someday that might be a thought on my mind as a trade but no time soon I think.
I have an aversion to catching a falling knife, my own personal fear.

Trimming the fat is great. I will be interested to see what happens 2 to 3 weeks after the earnings (or lack of) announcement tonight. Since we do not know what the pep talk is going to be at 5:30 tonight it's hard to say but let me ask Elon Musk these hard questions.

Ok, I get it, cut the fat but why is there fat? Because the employees are no longer needed.
Growth has stalled, market share plummeting, profit margins in the toilet, product line is stale and competition is now almost in every town in the USA. EV interest has waned a little bit and he has done nothing substantial in this area which means to me, Tesla has monumental problems.

So I hope Musk is going to tell us not about cost savings because business is terrible but how is he planning on a production schedule of new models to refresh the product line, get growth moving again and hold onto market share and hopefully get profit margins partially back.

I think after the close today this earnings call ... Im not sure what to expect. I fear he may dress up their problems instead of publicly tackle them head on. Retail is a tough business, more so with a large amount of multinational established companies already on the playing field.

He has a product with a new engine that everyone just copied ... kind of the same (as I said this in this very forum on the subject) no different then the new pairs of blue jeans coming on the market in the 70's and 80's take off with a blast and go down in flames once it becomes old news. I am REALLY surprised Tesla has the same old model cars. IN this forum I also said I guess nothing wrong with that, The VW Beetle had a healthy long run but in todays world, those runs will be shorter and I see the lower priced Tesla's as that Beetle, where is the new and exciting stuff?
Not only that but the valuation of the company puts it in a place unlike any other mainstream automobile maker in the world.

Just my thoughts, of which I have too many *LOL* (just ask my wife) and I am biased, I think the cars look boring for me personally and quite honestly, I have NO CLUE which is an old Tesla on the road and which is the newest. That is boring to me and I suspect a lot of buyers. It's ok, for those that don't agree with me, Im crazy anyway....;)

I had a nice chunk of Tesla and sold it for a very nice gain.

I got worried as Elon started acting more and more bizarre, arguing on Twitter and saying crazy things, silly rants, being an egomaniac, etc…. 😵‍💫 Some folks were eating this up, others were getting nervous.

I also felt EV market saturation was nearing and competition was quickly increasing. I kind of felt China could be a difficult market in the near future.

Yuppies that buy Teslas turned off by his actions and views…… some wealthy folks want to distance themselves from Elon and the Tesla brand.

Your timing has been impeccable and I suspect with other investment's as well
