Investing Strategies. What is your move?

I've followed some good advice investing in index funds, loss limiting funds and such. The good news is that as of today, I've only lost 14% in the last year, which is orders of magnitude better than my epic losses in 2008. Before brokerage fees of course. The idea that it will bounce back is keeping me from selling right now.

As always, it's no surprise that the growth was less than predicted, but the losses will statistically take years to recover.

The other good news is that if we ignore inflation, my savings account continues to grow.

I keep bringing up Ford and the lack of production. Despite the production numbers, it's pretty obvious dealerships are empty and the trickle of new vehicles does not come close to the claimed production rates. I purchased Ford stock for cheap and it looks to be trending down again... As the 1999 peak was $35 the January 22 high was near $25 and it's down to $14 now.

Things ain't good.

It's all good. My 401k/profit sharing should hit on Monday meaning another $30K of discounted funds into the old portfolio. I did not try and time the market at all - just took this long to figure everything out after going on extension.

Do you offer a 401K to your employees at your dental practice ?

I am selling everything...
Listed more properties for sale today.
Forbes has me listed squarely between Musk and @AutoMechanic in wealth at this point.

The stock market waits for the Fed announcement today. 50 basis points seems baked in the cake so it will be the guidance that the focus will be on. Back in the days of Greenspan the guidance took time to decipher.

Wow. The Germans sure love their taxation.

I see when looking online that dividends in Germany are taxed at 25%, why were you taxed 94.5%?

People tend to think about retirement like you take all of your retirement on day 1. If you need 20 years of income before you die why would you care if you lost a little in years 1-3 if keeping it invested meant you made out and them some in years 4-20? Your entire retirement shouldn't even be invested all the same way either - the money you're going to use initially should be treated differently than money you don't need for 15+ years.
Sequence of returns risk. Do some research on this.

I have some money in DRV and it’s up nicely today.

We need three 75 basis point increases, followed by three 50 point increases.

Time to face reality.

It will be very painful….. but necessary in the long run.
We need to directly to something like a 3% overnight rate. But unfortunately that won't happen. Today's .5 - .75 rate increase will do nothing to stop inflation. It's still way too little. Rates will still be ridiculously low.

My small stock allocation is 1/3 of the portfolio so I am doing nothing. I also have 10 years of living expenses outside the market so no worries at this moment.

Most folks always bring inflation but for me inflation is a local thing just like real state. If my 1 dollar here buys me X, I know other places the value is 2X or even 3X. You just have to be willing to moved, very easily done.
