I was in Sams club yesterday and noticed that all the IS batterys were black with IS stickers on them. IS have in the past been in white plastic cases with green or gray tops depending on classification.
Is this new or has Sams re-badged some brand or battery?
I'm about ready for a new one and the IS I have is 7yr and still going strong.
Thanks Smoky

A guy I worked with before retirement told me that @ one time he worked in a battery factory that made batteries for several different companies. Only difference in batteries was the label that went on them.

Kind on like things like Peanut Butter and many other consumer products.

The black batteries are propiatary to sams clubs. If you notice they have a lessor warranty then the MT or MTPs also. The price is less but I would stick with an MT or MTP, sams club is the only locaqtion that will warranty those batteries the 200,000+ dealers wont touch them.

The best way to get your questions answered on these is to Email Gary parks at Interstate

Super nice guy I have conversed with him on several occasions. I can tell you this if the battery says Econo power on it it is a reman interstate or a blemished product. ALL MT and MTP are 100% new with new plates even.

No they are not. I purchased a new black case Interstate battery from an Interstate battery company store last week. It was the higher end battery (MTP-124R if my memory serves).

I know they used to be. I have sent an email to Gary to find out the current difference between the interstates at dealers and dist and the interstates at sams club. I had am email about this subject a year or so ago but it gone from my inbox

I recieved my return email from Gary at interstate.

Hi Shawn,

Interstate has infact changed the batteries dealt through Sams Club. The only difference is the label and maybe the stock and/or part number. Your qustion about warranty is a good one. Most dealers will not warranty the sams club bats as they will not be engraved and thats a requirement of interstate if they are not sold through our direct dealer network. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you and your shop as always for your continued support.

Have a great week,

Gary Parks
