Bill, it happens!

where i work is in the area between the Major Optic fibre line between Sydney and Brisbane. We have been told that if it gets hit, you're out of a job. Will costs $100k + to fix! and this thing runs across farm country in a seemingly random way, without any metal strips buried with it to warn scanners.

I have been doing some ground testing where we dug up a copper cable... wasn't on our plans, and LUCKILY for everyone involved it was a dead one!

I wish we had fiber optic here.

I think our cable is $29.95, but it's a bundled with the boob tube stuff. Service used to be much more spotty - the city threatened their contract. Lately they have been solid.

Interesting to see how much difference there is between the laptop and the desktop. Not too much using the closer ones but the TN one is quite a bit.

Also, I've found once you get above 3mb that web pages are about the same as the higher speeds.
